Interactive Fairy Tales with DuffleBag Theatre – Sleeping Beauty

In these refreshing adaptations of classic fairy tales, DuffleBag Theatre invites audience members into the show to play the main parts! The resulting excitement and spontaneity creates hilarity for all and forms a perfect introduction to the classics. Since 1992, “the nearly world-famous” DuffleBag Theatre has wowed audiences of all ages across the country.

Everything they do comes out of a duffle bag — props, costumes and set. They perform adaptations of fairy tales and classic stories, but with a twist — actors pull people out of the audience to the stage to play the main parts.

The whole audience gets to participate, so everybody has a fun family experience that works for all ages. Whether it’s a fairy tale like Cinderella or Beauty and The Beast, or a classic story like The 3 Musketeers or Robin Hood, with an audience member playing the lead role there’s lots of fun to be had. Dufflebag Theatre presents shows families like to share — full of joy and laughs. It’s a true family experience.

Suitable for ages K–12.

4:00 PM – Silent Film Concert with Pianist Roman Zavada

In partnership with L’Association Franco- Culturelle de Yellowknife.

Pianist Roman Zavada takes you on a journey through time revisiting classics of the silent movie era and reviving the profession of accompanist. He improvises with the black and white keys of the piano to give a musical emotion in perfect harmony with the action of the film. Through the fantastic universe of Georges Méliès and the burlesque comedy of Chaplin, Keaton and Laurel and Hardy, the public will rediscover these little treasures which have since been forgotten. With his spontaneous and impressive musical narration, Roman Zavada magically becomes an accomplice to the black and white images on screen.
