Description
Camp Cook - 2 Positions
Under the direct supervision of the Camp Manger, Camp Cook is responsible for all meals and snacks at Camp Connections.
Dates -
- Training: June 6 - June 24 (Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm)
- Camp Session: June 27 - August 16 (7 days on, 4 days off)
Compensation: $900.00/week
Responsibilities
Duties of the Camp Cook include but are not limited to:
Pre Camp -
- Participate in staff training
- Prepare a healthy, diverse food menu
- Prepare and place food orders
During Camp - Kitchen Specific
- Ensure orders are delivered/picked up in a timely manner
- Manage kitchen inventory
- Ensure means are prepared on time
- Keep water tank filled, and ensure there is purified water for campers at all times
- Monitor propane supply
- Ensure camp kitchen is kept orderly and as safe as possible
- Ensure garbage is put into secure bins every evening
- Ensure garbage and composting is take into town during and at end of seasons
Post Camp
- Participate in camp take down, includes loading all cam materials and transporting back to town for storage
- Clean and sterilize kitchen equipment in preparation for winter
- Responsible for unhooking propane from stoves and refrigerators
Qualifications
Qualifications -
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Knowledge and understanding of Northern cultures, preference given to Aboriginal candidates
- Experience working with children with special needs
- Excellent communication skills and ability to motivate and work with others
- By physically fit
- Interest and ability in cooking nutritious meals in a rustic camp environment
- Clear criminal record
