AVENS currently has a fulfilling and fast-paced role available, which would suit a high-energy and self-motivated professional. The Director of Operations (DOO) oversees the Maintenance, Foods Services and Housekeeping departments, and is ultimately responsible for contributing to the overall success of AVENS – A Community for Seniors. The incumbent to this position will ensure that all maintenance obligations are met, ensuring infection prevention and controls are met within housekeeping and ensuring a smooth operations of the foods services. The incumbent will ensure a proactive ongoing approach is taken in identifying key potential process/efficiency improvements with regards to AVENS’ overall management. AVENS has exciting growth projects upcoming, such as a 102 unit Pavillion project as well as future Aging in Place supportive services which the Director of Operations will play a significant role.

This position reports directly to the CEO and is a valued and key member of the AVENS’ Senior Management team.

Education and Experience Requirements

Education and credentials should include designations in Property Management, post secondary degree in Management, Business, Healthcare  or equivalent

  • Proven management in a highly regulated environment. Management experience in LTC environment or in the field of gerontology would be considered an asset,
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and strong experience of managing budgets, understanding of continuous quality improvement principles, and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills to drive change and operational excellence.
  • Ability to successfully execute business development strategies and direct short-term and long-term planning to support strategic goals
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive responsibility and leadership, including supervising direct reports
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check

Pay and Benefits

SALARY: $102,336 – $115,791 per annum, plus a $2,233 annual Northern Travel Allowance

PENSION PLAN: 8% Employer matched defined contribution (DC) pension plan
