The Yellowknives Dene First Nation Housing Division is looking for an individual who possesses a positive attitude, is self-motivated, team oriented and who have the education, knowledge and skills to fill the role of Housing Maintenance Foreman. Under the authority of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation and under the direct supervision of the Housing Manager, the Housing Maintenance Foreman’s primary responsibility include but are not limited to maintenance and repair of the heating and plumbing systems of all buildings and 77 public units operated by the Yellowknives Dene First Nation Housing Division, as outlined in the Maintenance Management Operating System (MMOS). The candidate must be able to work with minimal supervision and interact with the public housing tenants in a friendly yet professional manner.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a Journeyman Certification in the Oil Burner Mechanic Plumber trades coupled with two (2) years’ work experience; a valid Class ‘5’ driver’s license; supervisory experience; and a First Aid/CPR and WHMIS certificates. The ability to speak a Dene language and previous experience in working with First Nations organizations are all definite assets.
