This is a part-time unionized position. (24 hour a week). You must be available Monday and Thursday mornings on a weekly.

  • Clean front entrance floors, doors and windows throughout the building
  • Clean all washrooms.
  • Sweep and mop floors
  • Vacuum throughout the building
  • Sweep and mop hallways and everywhere as needed
  • Sweep and mop front and rear building stairwells
  • Ensures proper paper products and cleaning supplies are supplied to washrooms and kitchen.
  • Sweep/Shovel outside entrance walk-ways
  • Pick up and throw out garbage
  • Work on maintenance projects as identified by supervisor
  • Serve community lunch and ensuring clientele safety
  • Post serving clean kitchen floors, wash dishes, wipe down tables and chairs, clean steam trays and change steam tray water
  • wash/dry/fold and store Shelter laundry
  • Drive program vehicle
  • Other duties as required


  • Knowledge of cleaning and janitorial skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Food safety
  • Class 5 Driver’s License mandatory (class 4 is an asset)
  • Acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs
  • Attention to details
  • ability to follow directions and work independently
  • Undestanding of: ABORIGINAL and inuit cultures: ADDICTIONS: MENTAL health and other social issues.
  • Effective communication in english both witten and oral.
  • Experience in performing maintenance and light repairs
  • Acceptable criminal record check
