Description

The Peer Support Worker is responsible to supervise and mentor homeless youth, provide practical supports and facilitate life skills development. The Peer Support Worker will work 10 hour shifts (10pm - 8am) or 8 hour shifts (12pm-8am).

Duties

The Peer Support Worker will also assist youth to address relational, employment and wellness concerns and facilitate referrals where appropriate while using a case management approach (including reports and statistics). This position will also be responsible for security and cleanliness of building and grounds.

Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12 education with one (1) year of experience working with homeless and at-risk youth.

Personal experience with homelessness is considered an asset. Required training (will be provided) include Crisis intervention and Suicide Intervention.

Up-to-date immunizations, CPR C and First Aid, and a criminal record check are mandatory.

Drop-In Centre provides a safe alternative to Yellowknife streets including practical supports and life skills: meal served at 5pm, recreation, cultural and social supports, etc.
