The City of Yellowknife is currently seeking a dynamic and engaged individual to assume the challenging position of Planning Coordinator with the Planning and Development Department.
This is an opportunity to take your administrative professional career to the next level as a fundamental team member of the Planning & Lands Division. This is an independent positon with a high degree of responsibility and one’s own sense of business to conduct. You will be responsible for a significant file portfolio and projects to manage. This position will interest those who currently work in the fields of legal administration, subdivision and surveying administration, or other senior administrative roles who may be seeking new professional challenges or opportunities.
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Planning and Lands Division, and working with other lease or purchase municipal lands, draft and process agreements pertaining to municipal land transactions, and maintenance and upgrading of the lease/land sales database. The incumbent also provides assistance in research and compilation of background information relating to land issues and municipal land administration in accordance with municipal by-laws, coordinates accounting for departmental projects, and prepares the quarterly land sale and development costing reports. The incumbent also assists divisions in the Planning Department on designated projects.
The position requires a thorough professional knowledge of Municipal and Territorial legislation relating to land administration, land-use planning and development, strong records management and mathematical skills. The incumbent must have a strong comprehension of land transactions and municipal land administration as well as some knowledge of legal terminology. This can normally be obtained by graduation from a recognized technical land administration program or several years of directly related experience.
The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive annual salary range of $71,375 to $85,293, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a monthly housing allowance, and a defined benefit pension plan.
