Description

The Northwest Territories/ Nunavut Council of Friendship Centres (NT/NU CFC) is looking for a Program Manager to administer a territorial Friendship Centre program called the Urban Programming for Indigenous Peoples (UPIP) on a 2-year term.

Responsibilities of the position include the maintenance of territorial funding criteria and guidelines, liaising with Friendship Centres, coordinated implementation of the Program including the collection program data, compliance, monitoring, reporting, and evaluation.

The Program Manager reports to the Executive Director. The NT/NU CFC Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the activities of all staff, along with the development and implementation of program evaluation activities, and the ongoing improvement of Program data collection activities, protocols, and processes. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A detailed job description is provided below.

Responsibilities

Objectives of the Job: The Program Manager will oversee and manage NT/NU CFC Programs. This includes maintaining funding criteria and guidelines, liaising with Friendship Centres, supporting the collection of program data, and NT/NU CFC’s compliance with contractual and other obligations. Employed by the Northwest Territories/ Nunavut Council of Friendship Centres (NT/NU CFC) the Program Manager is responsible for adhering to the policies and direction as determined by the Executive Board of the NT/NU CFC and under the direct daily supervision of the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Managing all programs
  • Managing renewal/enhancement of existing programs
  • Managing all program submissions and reporting requirements to relevant government departments and agencies
  • Managing all program administrative requirements
  • Proactively maintain consistent communication with Indigenous Friendship Centres, government officials, funders and NT/NU CFC staff
  • Developing evaluation plans/frameworks in conjunction with Executive Director including technical support to working groups as required
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Council as required
  • Preparation of briefing notes and meetings reports
  • Network with other Indigenous and non-Indigenous organizations
  • Provide oversight and management of data collection for reporting and other purposes
  • Managing the design and update of the Friendship Centre Program database
  • Database maintenance and control
  • Generating reports on data and conducting data analysis
  • Communications planning and execution

Qualifications

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Program management experience
  • Experience working in a not for profit environment
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities
  • Undergraduate Degree in a related field, or equivalent and experience
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of databases and data management software
  • Knowledge and understanding of NT/NU CFC’s priorities, mandate, organizational structure; and the Friendship Centre Movement’s program and service delivery infrastructure and
  • Able to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and work under pressure
  • Strong proposal writing skills

The NT/NU CFC is a not-for-profit Indigenous organization located at 5125-48th Street in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. It consists of 8 Friendship Centres located across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The NT/NU CFC is governed by an Executive Board. NT/NU CFC’s Constitution formally establishes its structure, purpose, and objectives. It addresses rules and regulations related to the Council’s membership, governance structures, Executive, committees, and Annual General Meetings.

The NT/NU CFC receives Federal and other funding that supports its internal organizational structure. NT/NU CFC currently employs 5 dedicated individuals including an Executive Director who is responsible for the overall management and administration of the organization. The NT/NU CFC offers a flexible, non-traditional work environment in the NTNU building in downtown Yellowknife and has free parking!
