The Northwest Territories/ Nunavut Council of Friendship Centres (NT/NU CFC) is looking for a Resolution Health Support Worker (RHSW) for a 2-year term.
The RHSW reports to the Executive Director. The NT/NU CFC Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the activities of all staff, along with the development and implementation of program evaluation activities, and the ongoing improvement of Program data collection activities, protocols, and processes. The successful candidate will be required to work independently and must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. A detailed job description is provided below.

The Resolution Health Support Worker (RHSW) is responsible for ensuring that IRS claimants, who are resolving their Independent Assessment Process can have access to an appropriate level of mental health counseling and emotional support services that would allow the claimant to safely address a broad spectrum of mental health issues related to the disclosure of residential school abuses. In addition to ensuring the safety of IRS claimants, the RHSW will endeavor to build relationships with key stakeholders and communities in an effort to promote a greater understanding of the National Resolution Framework and each of its separate components.
- Provide frontline professional, emotional and psychological support to claimants/plaintiffs pre, during and post resolution processes
- Liaise with various parties in order to identify claimants in need of support
- Facilitate and coordinate with other support services
- Network with Regional support services and provide regular activity reports
- Facilitate Healing/Wellness and other Mental Health workshops
- Minimum 3 years counseling experience with Indigenous clients
- Undergraduate Degree in a related field or equivalent and experience
- Extensive working knowledge of the history and impacts of residential schooling and effective methods for working with survivors
- Experience working with Indigenous communities
- Computer literacy, basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Internet
- Extensive travel will be required by air or vehicle to many communities in Northwest Territories
- Knowledge of Indigenous Culture is mandatory
- Demonstrate a wellness lifestyle and self-care plan
- A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search will be a condition of the employment offer

The NT/NU CFC is a not-for-profit Indigenous organization located at 4910-50th Street in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. It consists of 8 Friendship Centres located across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The NT/NU CFC is governed by an Executive Board. NT/NU CFC’s Constitution formally establishes its structure, purpose, and objectives. It addresses rules and regulations related to the Council’s membership, governance structures, Executive, committees, and Annual General Meetings.
The NT/NU CFC receives Federal and other funding that supports its internal organizational structure. NT/NU CFC currently employs 5 dedicated individuals including an Executive Director who is responsible for the overall management and administration of the organization.
