Description
Salt River First Nation #195 (SRFN) is filling its Resource Mother at Our Babies Our Future (OBOF), reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Financial Officer. The successful candidate will assist participants with activities necessary for daily living, home management, nutrition, cooking, budgeting, smart shopping and child care. You will be an integral part of the development of healthy families. The Resource Mother directly impacts participant's daily needs.
Responsibilities
Major duties include:
- providing on-going support to parents and infants in the area of personal development;
- encouraging parents to participate in program activities and parenting classes;
- offering program related transportation as requested;
- encouraging parents to participate in the cooking circle, toy, book and video lending;
- providing prenatal care to pregnant women;
- offering a shopping circle to pregnant and breast-feeding mothers;
- modelling positive behaviour and promoting parent and infant interaction through planned activities;
- preparing a monthly calendar of activities.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this position are:
- the incumbent would normally acquire the necessary skills and abilities through completion of a Diploma in Early Childhood Education;
- three years positive work experience;
- working knowledge and experience working with Indigenous people and must be able to work independently as well as with a team;
- the incumbent should possess counselling skills, have current CPR and a First Aid Certificate (training will be provided;
- good organizational, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
- MUST PASS A SATISFACTORY, JOB-RELATED CRIMINAL RECORDS CHECK.
