We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and well organized individual to assume the fast-paced position of Special Event Coordinator with the Community Services Department.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the incumbent organizes and hosts a minimum of 25 events per year. You will also create new events through external partnerships that in turn will build community spirit and enhance our community in heritage, culture and arts and increase wellness and inclusivity to all of the City’s events. Strong communications skills are a must as you will promote City programs and events. This individual sits on various committees, organizes meetings, records minutes and reports on events. Other duties include assisting with program registration and bookings, monitoring the City’s website to keep information current, as well as developing, planning, organizing, promoting and implementing City-offered programs and/or events.

Qualifications

This position requires a Recreation Degree and/or a diploma in a related field such as Recreation, Tourism, and Hospitality Management Event Planning.  The position also requires a minimum of two years of related practical experience,  a valid N.W.T. driver’s license, general office skills, and computer experience including word-processing, report writing,  spreadsheet and presentation development and recreation management software.  To be successful in this position, the incumbent must possess strong communication, organization, public relations and customer service skills.

The City of Yellowknife offers an attractive salary of $71,289 - $87,445 and a benefit package which includes a monthly housing allowance and defined benefit pension plan.
