Job Description: Team Lead/Housing Coordinator Reports to: Executive Director, Yellowknife Women’s Society
The Team Lead/Housing Coordinator is responsible for the daily operation of the Yellowknife Housing First program and the supervision and development of the Housing First Service Coordinators. The Team Leader/Housing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring fidelity with the Housing First model and a harm reduction/recovery oriented approach in the development and application of policies and procedures. The Team Lead/Housing Coordinator is also responsible for liaising with private landlords to secure units for housing first clients, addressing landlord concerns and resolving tenancy issues.
This position is a full time position working Monday to Friday based on 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: • Ensure that Housing First policies, practices and services are maintained • Ensure compliance with certification and regulatory standards • Train, supervise and evaluate of the Housing First Team, including direct supervision for Housing First Team members • Ensure case loads are manageable and that tenant needs are matched to the strengths and abilities of Service Coordinators • Supervise electronic and written record-keeping activities; e.g. databases, on-call logs, incident reports, progress notes and client charts • Review internal data to direct and improve client services • Establish and review operational and safety procedures and monitor client visits and vehicle usage • Participate in on-call rotation • Attend community stakeholder meetings concerning housing • Identifying policy and legislative barriers to housing and advocating for change where appropriate • Attend fundraising and promotional events • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual report writing related to the Housing First Team and the Housing First Program • Assist in the research, development and writing of policies and procedures • Assist with writing funding proposals, as needed • Perform related work as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications: • A degree in social work or related degree required (e.g. psychology, occupational therapy). Graduate degree preferred. • Five (5) years post-graduate experience, with (3) years supervisory experience preferred • Strong leadership and human resources skills • Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as computer literacy in Word and Excel • Previous experience working with individuals with histories of substance abuse, mental health issues and/or trauma; experience working with homeless individuals • Awareness of the history of colonialism and the legacy and impact of residential schools • The ability to work independently and to motivate others, to cope with crisis situations, and to work flexible hours in a changing environment • Previous experience working with individuals with histories of substance abuse, mental health issues and/or trauma; experience working with homeless individuals • A flexible, positive, team-based and solution-oriented approach to work and to leadership • A solid understanding of harm reduction as a philosophy and practice; an understanding of social determinants of health and social justice issues • Valid NWT driver’s license required
