Reports to:  Engineering Manager

Based at:  Yellowknife or Whitehorse

Position Purpose: Working closely with other Team Leads, coordinate Service Line teammates and maintain the technical capability and production requirements of the discipline.

 

Responsibilities

Service Line Accountabilities – Workload Management and Engineering Quality
  • Alongside the Engineering Managers, forecast workload for staffing targets and coordinate workload among teammates.
  • Provide Technical oversight on single and multi-discipline projects.
  • Share expertise with other offices, maintain technical capability and provide technical expertise on projects.

 

  • Work with others to increase the overall technical capability of the discipline.

 

  • If an engineer, stamp own project design and reports and that of engineers in training for whom you are providing peer review as appropriate.
  • Stay current with changes in own discipline.

 

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Relationship Managers and Directors to secure large multi-company projects.

 

  • Identify completed projects in your discipline that are eligible for technical awards, ensure projects are submitted.

 

 

Regional Accountabilities - Client Relationships and Operational Management
  • Motivate, train and mentor, and discipline direct reports according to company policies and guidelines.

 

  • Develop teammate Career Paths and provide performance appraisals, with input from the Engineering Manager.

 

  • Assist the Engineering Manager with proposal preparation as required.

 

  • Act as senior client contact for key clients.

 

  • Teammates are required to adhere to the company policies and guidelines as well as the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.

 

  • Establish basic operating standards, and accomplish objectives in the most economical manner to manage unusual conditions.

 

  • Work as the Project Manager, Relationship Manager or Technical Specialist to provide our clients with finished projects in a timely manner.

 

  • Analyze existing data to forecast business choices regarding budget forecasting, budget variances, client profitability, risk management and report findings to the Engineering Manager or Engineering Director as appropriate.

 

  • Understand and participate in resolving issues with cost control, non-recoverable expenditures, and utilization.

 

  • Perpetuate, clarify, and embody WEC Purpose and Core Values.

 

  • Teammates are required to adhere to the company policies and guidelines as well as the company and client safety policies and practices in effect at any given time.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • May hold or be working towards a P.Eng., C.E.T., or AScT designation.
  • Either a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum of 8+ years experience under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license.

 

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; a person who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.
  • Strong design and project management skills.
  • The ability to recognize and accurately define problems and solutions by collecting data and establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple priorities, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines.
  • Ability to represent the company to WEC team mates, clients and community by ensuring the best image is presented.
  • Application knowledge of WEC systems and programs (including MS Office 365, MS Teams, SharePoint, Deltek Vision, and discipline specific drafting/design software, etc.)
